“The Art of Loving” imagines a communal narrative through private archives. In the exhibition, ‘collecting’ becomes a form of social practice through which solidarity with others and ethically grounded relationships are enacted. According to Erich Fromm, love is not merely an emotional event. He describes love as a kind of ‘art’—an ability that must be learned and continually practiced. From this perspective, the exhibition focuses not on love reduced to a commodity by market value, love understood as possession, or love confined to the satisfaction of one’s own desires, but on acts of love performed through an attentiveness to the other’s mode of being.

To this end, AN Chorong assumes the role of an intermediary for photographic images, receiving photographs taken by others, recontextualizing them, and redistributing them. NOH Songhee traces and collects the marks of labor in everyday life, producing a cartography that functions as a negative image of larger systems. LEE Kang Seung, meanwhile, collects, appropriates, and reconfigures language, objects, and images, giving form to a collective queer desire in which past, present, and future become entangled.
